This is a much different, brighter palette than I usually go for - but I was really just trying something new. My favorite animal - so I'm ok with this takeover!
Sorry I haven't been posting, been a really busy semester. Took another Illustration class this fall and its been fun! This is one of my more favorite pieces from the semester, I guess I was trying out a more playful style.
These are actually a bit old now but I finally got around to scanning them. This was day one in a series of quick studies created around sunset every day during the summer. I wanted to see all the different color variations each day and they're each a bit different in their own way. I know I've been slacking with uploading new images, so I'll start by uploading this first one, which is very blue compared to the others. More to come tomorrow.
This was my first time with experimenting with copic markers and it was a lot of fun! I'll most definatly be using this medium a lot in the future when I don't feel like whipping out the oil paints and getting my hands dirty.
Still a bit rough around the edges, and it was hard to photograph without catching the shine from the wet oil paint. I think I'll go back in later and fix it up to my liking!
I wanted to do something simple and quick for this one since I didn't have much time to work on it this week. I thought of a "human-like" mouse tightrope artist for this topic.
For yesterday's painting I realized that I hadn't done any landscape paintings in a long time, so I think they'll be the subject of a few more of these.

Day 8 of my new "Daily Painting" series Approximately 7" x 5" Oil on Board
Kind of took a break on daily paintings this week to work on my very first submission to Illustration Friday. I've always wanted to participate but always ended up missing the deadline! I hope to make this a weekly thing. This weeks topic was refresh - this little fella surely thinks the summer rain is refreshing!

Oil on Canvas Panel
Saw this little guy at my last visit to the zoo back in winter. There was a sign up that read 'all prairie dogs in hibernation, come back in the spring' - but this little guy was wide awake and curious!
I love raccoons and the little way they eat with their hands. Just did this little guy in my sketch book, I ended up liking him so I made him into prints. I really like the spontaneity of the ink pen, and it was nice not having to have to clean up oil paints afterwards!
I started a new project yesterday. I'm going to do a tiny oil painting every day all summer long, yesterdays theme was ladybug. I'm curious to see how many days in a row I can last with this. This one was about 5" x 6" on board. Now to start tomorrows theme; Fox!
I decided this would be a good place to put some of my more refined doodles from my sketchbook...I usually do about one per day, hence the title! Lately I've been having a lot of fun playing with my new fountain pen. So yeah, I'll probably be posting a lot of those sketches for a while.
